Professor Geoff Hall

Consultant Oncologist and Chief Clinical Information Officer

Dr Hall is director of the MRC Medical Bioinformatics Centre within the Leeds Institute of Data Analytics (LIDA) and Chief Clinical Information Officer at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT). Nationally he chairs the national governance group of the Cancer Outcomes Services Dataset and is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology and Cancer Informatics within the Leeds Institute of Cancer and Pathology. As the Chief Clinical Information Officer Dr Hall has responsibility for the wider informatics strategy including the development and delivery of PPM+, the trust wide electronic patient record.


Professor Richard Neal

Professor of Primary Care Oncology

Professor of Primary Care at University of Exeter, Professor Neal has been at the forefront of primary care oncology for the past decade, contributing new knowledge to inform policy and practice; cancer diagnosis through primary care. He is a panel member for NIHR Research for Patient Benefit committee and leads one of the hubs for the Department of Health Policy Research Unit for Cancer Screening, Awareness and Early Diagnosis (from June 2019). He advises PinPoint on the multiple practical considerations necessary to achieve actual implementation and real world benefits for GPs and patients.

Associate Professor Bethany Shinkins

Health Economist

Dr Shinkins is an Associate Professor of Health Economics based at the University of Leeds. She leads a team who specialise in economic evaluations of medical tests (the Test Evaluation Group). She is also Associate Director of the NIHR Leeds In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (MIC). She is a statistician by background and now works as both a statistician and health economist. She manages a large portfolio of test evaluation projects spanning a wide range of diseases and clinical settings. She is leading the economic evaluation of PinPoint’s diagnostics.

Dr Samuel Nkansah Frempong 

Research Fellow (Health Technology Assessment) 

Dr Frempong is a pharmacist by background and a health economist based at the University of Leeds. He is a member of the Test Evaluation Group, a team of health economists that specialise in economic evaluations of medical tests that sits within the Academic Unit of Health Economics (AUHE). He has worked on a range of projects enhancing his expertise in the economic evaluation of diagnostic tests. He is interested in economic evaluations conducted at the early phases of technology development (particularly diagnostic tests), decision analytic modelling, priority setting in low- and high-income countries, and universal health coverage.

Dr Nisha Sharma

Director of Breast Screening/Consultant Radiologist

Dr Nisha Sharma is a consultant breast radiologist and director of breast screening for Leeds/Wakefield. She is also a lead clinician and professional clinical advisor for the national breast cancer screening programme. 

She is active in research focused on improving patient pathways and aiding cancer diagnosis while minimising over diagnosis and over treatment. She has over 20 peer reviewed publications.

She is a panel member of the clinical advisory group (CAG) for breast cancer screening and the research advisory committee (RAC). She also has a keen interest in artificial intelligence and recognises that this will play an important role in the future at various steps along the patient pathway from a screening perspective and aiding early detection of breast cancer.
